0 OWWA distributes EDSP forms

Applicants for the Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) can now avail application forms for the said annual scholarship program at Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Regional Welfare Office 5.

EDSP is open to all incoming college freshmen of 2010. Moreover, applicants must be a child of a married OWWA member or a sibling of an unmarried OWWA member; must be 21 years old or below; must have an average grade of at least 80 percent; have not earned units in any post-secondary or undergraduate course; and must not be a recipient of any scholarship award.

Meanwhile, according to OWWA Family Welfare Officer Arlene Bartolata, 'the tentative last days of the distribution of the application forms will be on the second week of August 2009'. "Applicants are expected to submit the accomplished application forms back to OWWA on the 15th of September this year," Bartolata added.

EDSP is a scholarship grant offered to qualified beneficiaries of OWWA member-OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) who intend to enroll in any four to five-year baccalaureate course. It is given in the form of a financial assistance amounting to 30,000 pesos per semester.
