0 Untold: PCSO chair answers my Facebook question

Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) chair Margarita “Margie” Juico appeared in a one-on-one interview with Tony Velasquez on ABS-CBN News Channel’s The Rundown September 26. Juico denied reports that the PCSO has cut its ties with some charitable organizations it funds for.

Meanwhile I got lucky enough when Velasquez asked Juico the question I posted on Facebook.

Tony: Chairperson Margie, here are a couple of reactions from our online followers. Ralph Revelar-Sarza is asking, “Does the PCSO conduct a strict background check on whether charitable organizations are really 'charitable?'” Bakit, may mga fronts ba ‘yang mga iba d’yan?

Margie: That’s why I think it’s important that we get a DSWD accreditation because . . . they will know best, eh . . . if an NGO is really credible or a “hao shao.”

Tony: Do you have suspicions of “hao-shao-ness” among these groups?

Margie: I’ve been getting, you know? If you’re in this position, you get a lot of calls, you get a lot of info saying that “you better check this,” so we’re getting that, too.
